Luis Pato – Kite Duck

Duckman – also known as João Pato – is the project Maria João Pato started in 2018 with her father Luís Pato in Bairrada, named for her grandfather João Pato. Kite Duck is a blanc de noirs-style white: 95% Baga juice with zero skin contact, joined by 5% Maria Gomes skins for five days of maceration to add aromatics and texture. Fermented spontaneously in stainless steel, then aged six months in large 650-litre French oak barrels. Unfiltered.

Kite Duck features:

• 95% Baga juice (no skin contact) + 5% Maria Gomes skins – 5-day maceration.
• 30-year-old vines; clay-limestone and sandy soils, Bairrada.
• Spontaneous fermentation; 6 months in large French oak. Unfiltered.
• Made by Maria João Pato and Luís Pato. Minimal intervention, no or minimal sulphites.
• 750ml.
• 9.5% ABV.
