Luis Pato – Quaaaq Quaaaq

Duckman – also known as João Pato – is the project Maria João Pato started in 2018 with her father Luís Pato in Bairrada. It carries the name of her grandfather João Pato, who in 1970 became the first grower in the region to bottle his own wine after Bairrada was demarcated. Quaaaq Quaaaq is a white from 20-year-old vines on chalky-clay and sandy soils, hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously in chestnut and French oak, then aged six months on lees and a further six months in cask and stainless steel.

Quaaaq Quaaaq features:

• White wine from 20-year-old vines, chalky-clay and sandy soils, Bairrada.
• Spontaneous fermentation in chestnut and French oak.
• 6 months on lees, then 6 months in cask and stainless steel.
• Hand-harvested; indigenous Bairrada varieties; minimal intervention.
