Afianes Wines – Icarus Black 2018 (75cl)

Icarus Black 2018 by Afianes Wines.

A natural dry red from Fokiano grown at about 600 m around Profitis Ilias on Ikaria, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels from Seguin Moreau. It is the winery's oak-aged red, made in a run of 1,600 bottles, and the producer recommends keeping it for around 8 years.

Icarus Black features:

• 100% Fokiano, PGI Ikaria. Organically farmed on terraces.
• Traditional red winemaking in stainless steel with wild indigenous yeasts. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, with no added sulphites.
• Ruby red. Ripe red fruit and warm French oak on the nose; rich and warm on the palate with soft tannins, wild cherry, black mulberry and black pepper, and a long, soft finish.
• Serve at 16 to 18°C, opened or decanted a few minutes ahead. Afianes suggests spicy yellow cheeses, barbecue, grilled boar or lamb with roasted potatoes, rosemary and thyme, or entrecôte in a spicy red sauce.
• 75cl.
• 14% ABV.
